Here’s how to resize your image using Canva:
1) Open up your Canva account, then click on “Create new design”.
2) Choose a template that fits your needs, or start from scratch with a blank canvas.
3) Upload an image into one of the predetermined spaces on the page by clicking on “Upload image” on the left side of the screen (you can also drag and drop images directly onto the canvas).
4) Resize your image by clicking on “Image settings” at the bottom right corner of the screen. Then choose from several different sizes (e.g., small square, large square etc.).

Add extra text or graphics to an image
In order to add extra text or graphics to a Canva image, you’ll need to first select the “Text” tool. This can be done by clicking on the icon in the toolbar that looks like this:
After selecting the text tool, you’ll see a box at the bottom of your screen with a number of options for adding text:
- The size of your font will change depending on how many pixels tall your image is. The larger your image is, the smaller your fonts will look. Keep this in mind when choosing how much text you want on an image!
- You can add custom colors to any font by clicking inside its color box and choosing from one of several preset palettes (such as “Blue & Green”). If none of these look good enough for what you’re trying out
Change the orientation of your photo
- To change the orientation from portrait to landscape, click on “Edit” in the top right corner of your screen.
- Click on “Rotation.”
- Choose whichever rotation you’d like. You can rotate it clockwise or counterclockwise, depending on how you want it to look.
Add borders and background effects to an image

Remove the background from a photo
With Canva’s photo editing tool, you can remove the background from a photo in just a few simple steps.
There are many reasons why you might want to do this, but one of the most common is to remove the background from a photo so you can use it for text or another design element.
Importantly, the best way to present your product in your ecommerce store is in 2 ways:
- The product being used as intended
- The product on its own, nothing else, over a white background.
The first step is to select an image that you want to remove the background from and open it within Canva. To do this, click on “Upload Image” and select your file. You can also choose to upload an image directly from your computer or take a new picture using your webcam or mobile device.
Once you’ve uploaded your file, click on “Create New Design” at the top of your screen and then select Photo Editing under Create New Design Options. This will bring up all of Canva’s photo editing tools including Remove Background, which is what we want! Just select your image, click remove back ground and you’re done!
